Democracy The Real

obvious issue solution

In universe, another world is. And in this world, a nation is. And the government of this nation is a democracy. This nation having quite the interesting history.

In this nation’s history, there was such unrest. And as so coincidental as this can seem, as so impossible this can seem, this democracy was composed of a president, a congress having two houses, and also a supreme court. And by wisdom, the nation was divided into states, than as only one large state, and by this the nation to stand as divided, than possibly fall in the morrows because of division. One of their national slogans is, odd as this can seem to the uneducated in this world’s history, “Divided We Stand”.

Again another presidential and congressional election was in process. And again slavery was an issue, and had become a serious issue. But there was no south nor north neatly dividing the nation. And those in congress foresaw a crisis, a civil crisis certainly, if containable as only civil. However, they could not foresee what to solutionally do.

And then came along an unimpressive figure of a man, but his words about democracy. And somehow, though against the expectations of experts, the established experts especially, he was elected to congress. And as was the need to lead, he lead the congress and the president influentially so by his words to afford a vote, a special vote but not for election, but for slavery abolished or not abolished. Yea or nay for by the people. And by the decision of the people, the majority of the people in popular vote count, this the nation would be ruled. This, as is democracy. This as is democracy the real.

Slavery was abolished. Many in the nation were unappreciative such a decision, but the decision was by the people and not those in congress nor the president. Democracy was not successfully arguable against. Not nearly so.

And decades later, emerged another important issue. The issue of abortion. And like in their history, this such a sensitive issue, serious unrest befell the nation. Many saw this as a state right, not a right rule-able by nation. Though, because of a supreme court case, the nation was ruled. And this many bitterly appreciated not.

And the unrest was fueled by those in government having divided themselves much too much, defining themselves as liberal or conservative, as often distracted them from managing the nation well. Such indecision. Such ridiculous arguments. This, as the people watched. As enraged some, ever so much.

Then suddenly in the news, the people learned of the congress having shut its doors. Only those in congress and their closest aides were allowed thru the doors, and in presence there. The news media was outraged, but could legally do nothing. A special session was in process. But what about!

After several days, several days! A lone man before seen as an unimpressive figure emerged alone thru the closed doors. Thru the years, he had aged, but this day he was quite erect as he approached the readied microphones of the news media. He was honored with the announcement a special vote. And special vote in this democracy. And he announced, though a special vote is allowable by law again in the future, a vote for abortion legal or not legal in the nation would be. And soon. And the people need not be unrestful, but be rest assured, democracy is and they will decide, than any of those in their government, the ruling of abortion.

And a decade later, emerged another important issue. The issue of health care for all the people, this for paid by their taxes. Those in the business of health were outraged. And those aspiring for public office had such difficulty, their opinions about health care demanded known by the people and also by those in the business of health care. Some were elected aspiring for fame, and others for power, than to serve, because of such confusion.

In the news, the people again learned of the congress having shut its doors. And this time, some of the news media were outraged, but could legally do nothing, while others understood. And after several days and nights in nation, as the people and the news media waited, and many patiently waited because having experience in this, a woman emerged alone. And she announced that in honor of a man, a man once seen as an unimpressive figure, but who is now known as one of the strongest pillars of their democracy, and their morrows certainly will also be, she also announced…

The people of this nation are a proud people, their nation a democracy as true as pragmatically able by them. And also by those, who serve them.

Sometimes they disagree so. And sometimes, the minority are disappointed so in the outcome of a national vote. But, though their opinions are sometimes divided so, united they stand.

In this nation, in another world in universe, clearly the people rule. And their nation as a democracy is lasting.

Certainly, this story is fiction. Or, possibly near the truth, a nation the like, some the like, is existing and existing still in universe. Their democracy the real, and lasting.

And perhaps we can learn from them. Applying ourselves the more, with democracy more clearly in mind.
